Launch of IPMA PEQP in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 5th April 2008

Do you desire to be recognized as a high performance manager? Want to demonstrate your competence and capabilities as an innovative strategist and develop your leadership and management skills?

The international Professional Association (IPMA) UK, has launched a programme that comprises all the above in Malaysia called the Post Experience Qualifying Programme (PEQP)

PEQP is an alternative path which leads to the completion of the International Professional Managers Association (IPMA) qualifying examinations.

PEQP is an international examining, licensing and regulatory body formed for the purpose of providing practicing managers with the opportunity to participate and be part of the process of improving managerial performance and effectiveness in all areas of business, industry and public administration.

In order to achieve and obtain IPMA membership, students have to complete six PEQP levels of examinations and assessment in a space of 12 months which is recognize by the National Recognition Information Centre for the United Kingdom (UK NARIC)

To qualify for the course, students must have a Masters Degree, MBA or equivalent or approved professional qualifications. Aspirants with a first degree must have a significant work experience.

IPMA Malaysia vice president Aru Subra said that the world of management undergoes constant rapid change. Thus organizations need to have expert and proficient managers who can deal with demanding challenges that lie ahead.

Aru explained that the course improves the key skills required for effective management and the ability to develop and implement effective business strategies and problem solving.

The PEQP modules and examination will create awareness of the understanding of new technologies and new techniques of management.

"It will improve their effectiveness for their organisations."

Aru also emphasised that the course is not academic-based involving theories. The lessons are based on real life case studies prepared at the Harvard School of Business.

In groups, students deal with real problems and issues with the assistance of a facilitator who has academic and managerial business experience.

After each module has been looked at, the students are given four weeks to prepare for an open book exam which will last for three hours.

Competency will be assessed on the grounds of the student's ability to solve problems and to provide logical and coherent solutions in identifying problems.

"It is a well structured system and process that will inspire the student to be much more confident and professional in tackling bigger problems in a world of business globalisation.

"Upon completion of the whole course, students will think more critically and analytically and their outlook on management will be wider and on a global scale," said Aru.
