ABSTRACT
Purpose – to investigate the moderating effect of upward influence tactics towards the relationship of leadership Styles and organisational justice in determining job satisfaction among knowledge workers in MSC status companies in Malaysia.
Design/methodology/apporoach – By using purposive random sampling, this study explored a sample of 401 k-workers with MSC statuses companies
Findings – the study found that a participative leadership style does not effect the job satisfaction of the k-workers. Moreover, the study also found that interactional justice has a negative significant effect towards job satisfaction. It also found that upward influence tactics is partially moderate the relationship between leadership styles and organisational justice towards job satisfaction of the k-workers.
Research limitations/implications –. Presumably, the structure, the staff, the systems and the styles must be different. Researchers conclude that their satisfaction with the job is the key to keeping them produce for the organisation. Thus, to avoid brain drain, Malaysia has to take an initiative to promote higher job satisfaction among knowledge workers.
Practical implications – these findings have important implication in promoting brain gain by taking into account both social factors and economic factors.
Originality/value – this research fills in important knowledge gap in the field of organisational justice and leadership styles related to the job satisfaction among knowledge workers.
