TEAMS AS A GLOBAL CONSTANT IN ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE

ABSTRACT

The author sets out to argue that no matter what technological and strategical changes occur in a globalising business and industrial world, the benefits and attributes of teams and teamwork remain as a constant. Improvement in quality can only be achieved by managing change. The transition is the way forward and means changing the work force culture rather than the processes. Improvement of quality means doing things better or having better resources. It is therefore by definition not a static process. Improvement is inextricably bound up with change.

Any organisation, which does not plan change, is subject to either stagnation or unplanned change. People find change uncomfortable and threatening, but if the process is not managed it becomes even more difficult, as the pressures build up and reactions set in.
