ABSTRACT

This paper aims at exploring the concept of commitment in work organisations. It examines the roots of loyalty, its development over time; it is future and applicability to different settings. The paper critically analysis the current literature and examines the facets of commitment. It also sheds some light on the controversial arguments, across cultures, surrounding the normative approach of commitment and question its applicability in today’s dynamic and fast changing workplace and environments.
