ABSTRACT

There have been two surveys carried out by the UK Council for Graduate Education. The first one was undertaken in 1995, the second in 2004. This article will outline the strategic imperatives for graduate schools within the UK; it will review the reports previously undertaken, outlining those factors which still exist in 2008, and proffer suggestions for the best way forward for graduate schools in the future.
