Professor David Pickernell

Professor Pickernell is currently Director of the Welsh Enterprise Institute and Professor in Economic Development Policy University of Glamorgan.

David attained his BSc. Econ and PhD (Econ) from the University of Cardiff

His main areas of research are:

• Foreign Direct Investment and Local-Global interactions
• Economic Integration
• Clusters and Networks
• Regional Economic Development Policy
• Construction
• Universities and economic development, innovation
• Festivals and events in social enterprise
• Capital building
• Socio-economic effects of gambling

Professor Pickernell as Head of the Welsh Enterprise Institute sits on the Faculty’s two main research committees:

• Research Programmes (FRPC)
• Research Applications (RAP)

Professor Pickernell is also the module leader for two final year undergraduate modules:

• Global Economic Development
• Internationalisation of the Business

He actively leads on the university’s postgraduate module – Entrepreneur in the Global Environment.

David holds professional membership of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM), and The Higher Education Academy UK. His publications are truly internationally dispersed in his respective areas of research.
