Mandatory Continuous Professional Development – MCPD

The International Professional Managers Association lays much emphasis on the importance of our members and managers to continually enhance their skills, expertise and knowledge in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Mandatory Continuous Professional Development – MCPD is the term that is used to describe this process of life long learning which is a structured approach towards providing evidence of learning, individual progress to meet specified career and personal objectives.

It is widely accepted that Professional bodies like our Association, have a responsibility to assure the public and their employers of the quality and the competence of our members and our licensed Professionals. We also accept that we live in a very rapidly changing environment and it is apparent that the initial qualifications and work experience earned are no longer relevant in this context of rapid change. Our members and licensed members must keep up to date.

Keeping up to date, improving and broadening knowledge and skills can be achieved through the process of participating in seminars, training courses and other activities and events. These activities will provide the manager knowledge and understanding of new techniques and issues that will significantly affect their performance as a manager.

Our Association provides the structure to enable our members and licensed managers to record on our servers their learning activities and events throughout the course of the year. These learning activities and events will be awarded MCPD credit points dependent upon the activity concerned.

The Objectives of MCPD

  • To promote the value of MCPD amongst our members s and to enable them to derive the greatest benefit for their organisation and themselves
  • Enhance the prospects of our members when undergoing the process of promotion or seeking new employment opportunities
  • Provide an independent MCPD Certification service for our members to prospective employers, clients or their organisations
  • Provide the basis for consultation with members’ employers to contribute towards the professional development of their staff

Our Association has made it a mandatory requirement that membership and licensing renewals can only be effected on the achievement of the required credit points.
