Home Members’ section Code of Conduct

All members of our association are expected to comply with our code of practice. this code of practice seeks to ensure that all our members, associates, members and fellows, acknowledge their responsibilities as professional managers.

The international professional managers association has been formed to enable all managers and executives at all levels of management to fulfill their responsibilities to the highest standards as demanded by their employers, the public and their clients.

Professional management demands that the individual exercises his responsibilities with integrity, competence and objectivity when working or dealing with the public, his employer, his client and other members of his or other professions.

This code of conduct represents a relevant and useful set of guidelines to ensure that our licensed professional managers contribute and play a vital and ethical role in the context of their work and business relationships.

Member’s Responsibilities

Discharge at all times their agreed responsibilities and authority as a manager with integrity and observe the standards as prescribed in the international professional managers association guide to good management practice.

  1. not to misuse their authority or office for personal gain
  2. comply with the statutory regulations as prescribed within their area of work and to operate within the spirit of those regulations
  3. conduct themselves in the manner not to injure the standing and reputation of the international professional managers association

Guide To Good Management Practive - The Manager - The Person

Managers have personal responsibilities, and should:

  1. Demonstrate integrity and humanity and observe the principles of the undeclaration of human rights avoiding all discriminatory practices including those relating to race, sex, religion and politics
  2. Have regard for the interests of society in acting loyally and honestly in carrying out the policies of their organisation
  3. Not injure or attempt to injure, maliciously or recklessly, directly or indirectly, the professional reputation of others
  4. Respect the confidentiality of information which they will possess in the course of their duties
  5. Engage in continued learning to improve managerial competence and pursue new ideas and advances in technology
  6. Accept only such work as they believe they are competent to perform to the satisfaction of their clients or superiors and where necessary obtain expert advice
  7. Respect the codes of other institutes and associations relevant to their responsibilities.Be as objective as possible when called upon to provide their professional opinion.

The Manager and The Organization

managers should take the appropriate actions to achieve the objectives of their organisation. these actions should include:

  1. The effective and economic management of all available resources
  2. The appointment, training, and development of employees, seeking to integrate their aspirations with the requirements of the organisation
  3. The creation of a humane, safe, healthy and satisfying working environment
  4. The development of effective communications, understandings and cooperation between all employees at all levels
  5. The practice of delegation of authority wherever possible and the acceptance of responsibility for the work of subordinates
  6. The fair and equitable treatment of employees
  7. The frequent review of management objectives

The Manager and The Community

Managers should recognise the interests of the community and act accordingly. this recognition should include:

  1. Making every effort to conserve the environment, balancing the rights of future generations with current economic needs
  2. Preserving and, wherever possible, improving the quality of life within the organisation's sphere of influence
  3. Promoting the development of further understanding in society of the role and place of the business community
  4. Ensuring that all contracts and terms of business are clear, concise and honoured in full, unless terminated or modified by mutual consent
  5. The exclusion of corrupt practices
  6. Respecting cultural and moral standards and the dignity of the individual
  7. Participating in public affairs, and using their professional skills and expertise
