Aims

a) Gain an understanding of the dynamic role of human resource management policies and practices in Contemporary Organizations and their contribution to organization goals.

b) Define and examine critically, the major philosophies, policies, procedures and practices related to the management of human resources.

c) Gain an understanding of the influence of differencing internal and external environments on current practices and developments in the management of human resources.

d) Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge of human resource management in the analysis, diagnosis and solution of management situations and problems.

Course Modules

DHRM 101 : Nature of the human resource management process. Leadership, managerial style, organizational culture, organizational climate and organizational internal and external environment.

DHRM 102 : Identify the needs and methods for bringing about organizational change; understanding the obstacles to change and possible approaches to overcome these.

DHRM 103 : Purposes, main stages, technique and information sources of human resource planning.

DHRM 104 : Policies and practices associated with HRM. Labour market issues, recruitment, selection transfer and termination, labour turnover and absenteeism.

DHRM 105 : Importance of human resource development in changing situations.

DHRM 106 : Compare and contrast employee and employees compensation and rewards.

DHRM 107 : Factors influencing the efficient and effective utilisation of human resources. Performance appraisal, employee motivation, communications, design of jobs, counselling, job satisfaction, health & safety, explain the main causes of disputes, grievances and conflict in work situations.

DHRM 108 :Impact of union / management relationship and agreements of human resource management. Labour laws in Sri Lanka.
